According to data collected by Dr. Michael McDonald and the United States Election Project, at least 26 million voters (as of the morning of November 1) have already cast ballots for the Nov. 8 general election. And with early voting in full swing in many states this final week before Election Day, those numbers are increasing rapidly.
A number of jurisdictions now provide information not only on where early voting sites are and when they are open, they also provide real-time or near real-time information about wait times at these locations. For example the District of Columbia has nine early voting locations and updates wait times on a regular basis:
And it’s not just large jurisdictions providing this information. Suwannee County, Florida, with approximately 26,000 active registered voters, has this information on its website as well:
