North Carolina - State of North Carolina
Program Title
HUBS Work Groups
Program Summary
The North Carolina State Board of Elections staff adopted collaboration as a key core agency value. In January 2021 leadership launched a collaborative work structure with a HUB-themed concentration to promote this value. The goal was to create a work group structure where energy and action moves in and moves out around each area of responsibility; with both state staff and county staff involved.
A HUB is defined as an effective center of an activity, region, or network. In terms of elections administration, a HUB will be a collaborative group whose assigned contributors will plan, develop, and manage the ongoing implementation and execution of an identified election subject or program. The HUBS structure will give definition to the mechanics of the agency and ensure continuation of organizational intelligence.
The State Board created 13 HUBS work groups for subjects of elections administration. The HUBS "Helping Us Be Successful"concept was introduced to the 100 counties and a membership draft was held. Each HUB was assigned work appropriate leaders and members. A Starter Guide was provided with meeting guidelines and standard tasks. The HUBS teams have been working collaboratively throughout 2021 and have accomplished many meaningful tasks.
