Election Official Television Training
223 of Alaska’s precincts are in remote areas only accessible by boat or plane. In 2020, the Alaska Division of Elections enlisted a local independent public media organization, KTOO, to film poll worker training sessions and broadcast the sessions at designated times throughout the election cycle. The elections team created three training videos featuring voting equipment used at different precincts. Since many areas do not have reliable or widely available internet access, these television broadcasts offered a unique solution for supporting poll worker training across the state.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) annual Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearie” Awards, promote best practices in elections and celebrate the accomplishments of election officials across the United States.
