Electronic Support Specialist High School Student Program
Following enactment of legislation in 2009 allowing high school students to serve at the polls, the Harris County Elections Office began promoting the poll worker opportunities at high schools. Focused initially on bilingual students who could assist voters with different language needs, the Division of Elections has since expanded the program to address technological support. The Electronics Support Specialist Program now provides each polling location with a hired student specialist to assist with equipment connectivity and/or technical issues.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) annual Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearie” Awards, promote best practices in elections and celebrate the accomplishments of election officials across the United States.
