The County’s elections team worked with the IT department to implement a comprehensive online chat feature for the 2020 state primary. Upon visiting votejeffco.com, Voters could click on an icon that said “Let’s chat.” The new feature was tested to ensure functionality, adequate staffing, and hourly availability. The program allowed staff to more efficiently distribute registration forms and other information. By the general election, the chat option was so popular that the county expanded its availability. The chat also led to substantial drops in call volume to the voting information call center.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) annual Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearie” Awards, promote best practices in elections and celebrate the accomplishments of election officials across the United States.
