Voter Education Fund
Established in 2017, The Voter Education Fund (VEF) is a partnership led by King County Elections, the Seattle Foundation, and other local organizations. The fund provides grants for community-based organizations working to remove voting barriers and increase ballot access for historically excluded and underrepresented communities. During the last cycle, nearly $1 million was invested across 39 grantee organizations. Grants this year went to projects such as including voting information in food assistance bags, assisting voters with disabilities, and engaging communities to register voters. The program has impacted hundreds of thousands of voters in King County and helped register over 17,000 voters in the past few years.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) annual Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearie” Awards, promote best practices in elections and celebrate the accomplishments of election officials across the United States.
