The Flex Vote Center Program
Established in 2020, the Flex Vote Center Program serves voters with disabilities, residents in assisted living facilities, and geographically isolated voters. The County collaborated with organizations such as the Disabled Resource Center, Service Center for Independent Life, and Special Needs Network to develop the program. The Flex Vote Centers, staffed by Election Workers and volunteers from partnering organizations, supported accessible voting and increased curbside during 2020 using an Interactive Sample Ballot (ISB). The centers allowed voters to maintain social distancing while ensuring the experience was straightforward and secure. In the November General Election there were a total of 87 Flex Vote Center locations throughout the County across a 10-day period.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) annual Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearie” Awards, promote best practices in elections and celebrate the accomplishments of election officials across the United States.
