Best Practices in Recruiting, Retaining, and Training Poll Workers
Civic Engagement Series - Youth at the Booth
This program works with students with Wyandotte High School and the Wyandotte County Election Office in a variety of ways. One part of the program features a mock election showing students what it’s like to vote. The program also recruits student election workers, offering training and pairing students and teachers together at different polling places throughout the county. The youth engagement series started out with about eight students the first year and has grown to twenty over the last three years. Election officials often see the same people return because the students really enjoy working elections. The effort has helped fill positions at elections offices and will be expanded as more and more students show interest. For additional information, please visit the county’s YouTube page.
