About the Voluntary Electronic Poll Book Certification Program
In 2024, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission launched the Voluntary Electronic Poll Book Certification Program under the EAC’s Election Supporting Technology Evaluation Program. Electronic poll books submitted through this program are evaluated against the Voluntary Electronic Poll Book Certification Requirements (VEPBCR), which outlines a set of specifications and requirements to determine whether the systems conform to all baseline expectations for functionality, security, and accessibility. Participation is entirely voluntary, but commercial or in-house manufacturers that wish to participate must conform to the program’s requirements.
