2016 Election Administration Voting Survey/

Friday, March 11, 2022

2016_EAVSPublished in June 2017, the EAC administers the biennial Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS) to collect state-by-state data on the administration of federal elections. The EAVS reports include data on the ability of civilian, military, and overseas citizens to successfully cast a ballot and contains the most comprehensive, nationwide data about election administration in the United States. It is a survey of all States, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since 2014 this data has been combined into one report. Prior to 2014, the data were presented in three reports – the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) report, the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) report, and the Election Day Survey. In addition, in 2008 the EAC began administering the Statutory Overview, which asks states a series of open-ended questions about their election laws, definitions, and procedures. On this page you will find links to all 2016 EAVS, NVRA, UOCAVA, and Statutory Overview data.

2016 Election Administration and Voting Survey Data Interactive

The EAC is excited to introduce our first-ever data interactive using responses to the 2016 Election Administration and Voting Survey. This interactive allows users to examine and compare data at both the state and local levels, as well as look at any combination of jurisdictions side by side. Our related guide provides details on how to use the tool.

In addition, please see our one-page 2016 EAVS data highlights for each state below:
