Montgomery County Board of Elections Wins National Award for its Future Vote Initiative

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) today announced that the Montgomery County Board of Elections (BOE) was the recipient of a 2018 “Clearie” Award for Recruiting, Training and Retaining Election Workers. The BOE received the award for the Future Vote Initiative, which encourages students from grades 6 to 12 to participate in elections.

EAC Boards Complete Annual Meetings in Miami

Members of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s Standards Board and Board of Advisors reviewed the next generation of Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG), discussed the intent and application process for newly appropriated HAVA funding, examined election security efforts, and tackled other timely election-related issues such as disaster recovery contingency planning during recent meetings from April 19-24 in Miami.

Weber County Elections Office Wins National Award for “Winning in Weber”

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) today announced that the Weber County Elections Office in Utah was the recipient of a 2018 “Clearie” Award for Outstanding Innovations in Elections. Weber County received the award for its “Winning in Weber” program to engage students, veterans, teens, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and children in the electoral process.

New Mexico Secretary of State Wins National Award for New Electronic Ballot Software System

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) today announced that the New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office was the recipient of a 2018 “Clearie” Award for Outstanding Innovations in Elections. The Secretary of State’s Office received the award for its implementation of a new electronic ballot software system which allowed blind or visually impaired voters to independently cast an absentee ballot.

Iowa Secretary of State’s Office Wins National Award for Helping Veterans and Iowans with Disabilities Vote Project

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) today announced that the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office was the recipient of a 2018 “Clearie” Award for Improving Accessibility for Voters with Disabilities. The Secretary of State’s Office received the award for the Helping Veterans and Iowans with Disabilities Vote Project that educated thousands of veterans and Iowans with disabilities about resources available to help them vote privately and independently.
