Data "Deep Dive" Examines Provisional Voting Trends Nationwide

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) released a brief today on the rate in which provisional ballots are issued and counted during federal elections, and the impact of different state policies on provisional ballot usage and acceptance. This is the fifth and final in a series of “deep dives” into election administration trends and voting behavior ahead of the 2018 midterm elections. The brief analyzes data from the 2016 EAVS.

U.S. Election Assistance Commission Announces 42 States and Territories Have Requested Over 75 Percent of HAVA Funds

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) today announced that 42 states and territories have requested a combined $288,882,011 in newly appropriated Help America Vote Act (HAVA) funds, over 76 percent of the total amount available. The announcement comes just over three months after Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018, which allocated $380 million in election security funds to all 50 states, the District of Columbia and four U.S. territories.

U.S. Election Assistance Commission to Administer $380 Million in 2018 HAVA Election Security Funds

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) has announced the availability of $380 million in 2018 HAVA Election Security Fund grants contained in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018. The grants, authorized under Title I Section 101 of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002, will support election activities to improve the administration of elections for Federal office, including to enhance election technology and make election security improvements.
